Epidural or not?

Ladies who have given birth...what are your thoughts on getting an epidural or not? Thanks in advance for your input!

I went into my induction with my first son with full intent on having a natural delivery. But being in labor for 2 days with contractions was horrible for me. I was exhausted, irritable, scared, etc. My husband and the nurse told me it was okay to get the epidural. That I wasn't less of a warrior for getting it. So I did. And I'll tell you, I finally had some rest and was able to calm down and feel my body trying to deliver my son. In the end though, I need an emergency c-section and already having the epidural in was a big plus!

I think it's best to go into labor and delivery having a game plan, but at the same time being open to doing whatever it takes to get your baby safely delivered.

I did not get one, and I will not be this time unless it's medically necessary. I don't feel that the benefits outweigh the risks.

No epidural for me.. I don't like being medicated even when I'm not pregnant, being pregnant makes me even less interested in meds. 
I just educated myself very well on what to expect, did a lot of positive affirmations during my pregnancy/labor and taught my SO as much as possible so he could help. 
When the time came I didn't even think about having any meds (I have two babies, pregnant with #3)

With my first I got the epidural more so because I was scared because my contractions weren't even THAT bad at 7cm. This time around I don't think I'm going to get it. It made my labor and delivery process soooo much longer. I was progressing good and well and then after I got the epidural everything slowed down and I didn't have my son until a day later!!!!

It also depends on your labor length. Like yeah if you have your baby shortly after your water breaks than yeah, anyone could handle unmediated birth! But if you have intense contractions for 12 hour after your water breaks, HOLY HELL that epidural is a life saver! I thought contractions were bad before water broke and then they get 50x more painful!

I got one and 100-% had no regrets! I remember telling my nurse how amazing epidurals are (like 100 times ). Lol after 16 hours of labor , I was about to pass out from pain... and let me tell you that epidurals are Gods biggest blessing to preggo mammas. The only thing on my birth plan this pregnancy is : epidural 👌
Hallelujah yessss. I had no complications or back pain from it. And I was up walking 45 minutes after giving birth. Another positive note is that if you tear like I did, the epidural still has some effects with minimizing the pain of getting stitched up

I have three children and my first two I had an epidural and my last I didn't.

I think it's all about preference and the person. Everyone is different and everyone's pain tolerance isn't the same.

If I would have known what I did about natural birth, my first two would have been natural as well. I just like the option of. It being rude down to machines and tubes/needles.

2 vaginal deliveries my son was a failed epidural since it was given to me too late i was in spontaneous preterm labor and the dr was in a c section with my daughter i went no pain meds with induction i was more relaxed of course with my daughter since my son was preemie everything was rushed

No one can tell you what to expect either which way because only you know your pain tolerance just know that you are more than capable of trying to go natural but if you feel you need it you can ask for pain meds but you only have up to a certain point in labor where they will make sure once you cross that point they will not give you pain meds

With my first I took when I was a 5,almost 6.....menhhhh it helped me relax. and when my angel was ready she came out perfect # the only problem I had was I didn't feel much after,that's the purpose right.....didn't get signals from body but the doctors's # currently pregnant with my second and might still be on it.

I had my 2 vaginal deliveries without epidural. The 1st one I didn't get terrible contractions til my water broke and at that point it was time to start pushing anyways. For my second, labor was a little worse and pushing was much longer than my first, I believe I was pushing for about 2 hours or less and by the time I was pushing for over an hour I remember begging for epidural but they said it was too late LoL so no epidural for me.
