The Story of a Mother
The was once a woman, a soon-to-be mother. The woman went to the doctors office to get her weekly checkup on the baby when the doctors at the practice told the mother that the child would have Down syndrome. That same team of doctors told the mother to abort the child. They told her that it would be easier, better for her financially...
The mother refused... actually, yelled at them for saying it. She went to several other doctors and they all said the same thing; abort the baby. Still she refused.
What she did, instead, was pray. Not just for herself but for the doctors, for the nurses, and for all her friends who told her to kill the life growing inside her. She prayed to God to forgive them and to bless her and her family with good health. She prayed for her baby.
This woman prayed nine long months until one day she gave birth to a wonderful, healthy baby girl. A baby girl who, to the doctors surprise, didn't have Down syndrome. The mother named her child Natalie.
The birth of that girl was exactly 15 years from today. And, if you hadn't caught on yet, I was that little baby.
Because my mother stayed strong, because she didn't give into all the people telling her to abort me, she gets to see her daughter have yet another birthday. She gets to see her daughter smile another smile, laugh another laugh, and breathe another breath.
Please, I implore any pregnant women who are concidering getting an abortion to really think about what they're doing. Read this story and realize what you can have and the love and happiness it will bring you.
