The pill

So I can't find anything on the internet, but my sisterinlaw told me that birth control can help if you get an upset stomach and bad diarrhea while on your period. It only ever happens to me the first day but it's horrible. Has anyone else had this problem before, and has starting the pill helped any? I really need to know cause I don't know whether to try the pill or not.
