impaired glucose intolerance
Hi ladies!
This is my third pregnancy and first time with gestational diabetes. I took the 1 hr glucose test and my results were in the gray area. My previous pregnancy I had the same result with the 1hr but had no issues with the 3hr glucose test. So when I went in last weekend for the 3hr glucose test I was nervous but not necessarily worried. My results came back and I had an an usual reading for the 2nd hr blood draw. Today I got the call informing me due to the results they were diagnosing me with Impaired Glucose Intolerance. They sent me reading material about gestational diabetes and informed me I'd be hearing from a dietitian about a meal plan. I've had a tough time with morning sickness this time around and food has not been much of an option. I eat because I have to but there is no joy in it as it results in constant nausea. I'm sorry for rambling on but I'm still processing the information. I'm overwhelmed by all that entails with a meal plan: the measured portions especially when they focus on each measured portions of each item (carbohydrate and protein etc.). Do you have to check blood sugar if you don't need meds? How are you supposed to check? What are your experiences?
