Flat head updates?

Hey ladies... wondering how many babies still have flat heads in this group or are developing one? We saw our ped this week for something else and mentioned the flat head again because we're both very concerned. She's referred us to a plastics specialist to determine whether our little guy needs a helmet. :( We do everything we can to minimize his time on his back and it doesn't seem to be improving so I'm so worried and feel like such a failure as a mom, like people will think I've neglected him or something. My ped said she normally only sees flattening in older babies or chunky babies at this age, but our guy is only in the 22nd percentile (just under 12 pounds and 11 weeks old)! Which is why she gave us the referral. She also said not to put anything in the crib while he sleeps, so he continues to sleep on his flat side because it's his preferred side.

Just looking for some reassurance...
