Do you agree with there being a statue of limitations?

Statue of limitations basically means that someone cannot be charged for a crime after a certain amount of time since they commited the crime has passed.

This question was inspired by some commentary I was listening to on YouTube. Apparently the woman responsible for the lie that caused the death of Emmett Till ended up admitting that she had lied about him whistling and sexually harassing her. The person that I was listening to felt that she should be charged with perjury despite her lying years ago. She also goes on to talk about a case in which a former Nazi soldier was convicted and sent to prison at 94 years old for crimes he committed in his youth. Should a statue of limitations apply to him and her, one of them or none of them?

Thankfully there's no statute on child sex crimes in TX so I'm good, but had there been? It'd be shitty to finally speak up only to be told there's nothing to be done about it. I think if you've done the crime, why should time let you off?

Not in cases where they admit it or undeniable proof turns up. If they can be proven guilty 100%, without a doubt they need to go away no matter how much time has passed. Justice does not have a time limit.

There's no statute of limitations for criminals to commit crimes so I don't think there should be a statute of limitations for those criminals to be prosecuted for those crimes

Yes,, for some crimes. It shouldn't apply to crime where someone has died (e.g. Murder, manslaughter), crimes involving children (child abuse, kidnapping), lying before a court or law enforcement agent (e.g. Perverting the course of justice), crimes that endanger the general public (e.g. Arson in bushfire season, corporate negligence that creates a risk of death), violent crime streaks (e.g. Repeated incident of rape) or war crimes.
