Help please

My boyfriend is mentally ill. I can't deal with his emotional and physical abuse. He always blames it on his mental illness, he also blames his mental illness on me. I can't just break up because i feel guilty, also he threatens me and threatens to kill himself.

Im getting awful panic attacks, lost interest in doing anything.

Can someone really be the reason of somebody's else mental illness?
