"I love you" ???

Question

My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year now and every time I say "I love you to him" he always reponds with "thank you". 
I don't really know how to take this. Don't know if maybe it's just becoming a waste of time

Lmao, the first time my boyfriend said "I love you" to me I responded with "fuck..."

I know it sucks to not hear him say it back but maybe he's just scared of the commitment of those words! They hold a lot of weight, and even if he knew 100% that he was in love with you, it might still feel daunting to say it. 
Give it some time, if it's really bothering you ask him why he doesn't say it back.
