Are you okay with your SO keeping in contact with ex?

I feel like phone contact every once awhile to catch up is ok but hanging out can be bothersome . What are you guys experiences with this ?

My boyfriend is friends with his ex. They've been friends since childhood. They dated for 2yrs and even lived together. She's never been a problem in our relationship at all. Thankfully she respects our relationship and doesn't cross lines. But more importantly I trust my boyfriend 100%- even if the ex was to cross a line I know my boyfriend would stop her and would be talking to me immediately and their friendship would end without me ever saying a word. 
I've never met her nor will I ever meet her (my choice). She stays out of our relationship completely. My boyfriend doesn't discuss our relationship with her at all. She's his friend, they talk, text and occasionally get together for lunch/coffee. She's never been a problem and I've been with my boyfriend over 3yrs. My boyfriend is an honest and trustworthy man that would never cross a line. If I couldn't trust him with his ex then I wouldn't be with him because that would mean he doesn't really love and respect me (and likely isn't over the ex).

Why?  I don't understand why people keep exes in their life. I understand if they grew up together but that rarely happens. Most of the time they met, dated, broke up barely liking each other as people. So why do they need to keep in contact with them? Nah.

It depends on what their relationship was then, what it is now, how much time has passed... etc... a lot of factors
I do believe that ex's can be friends in some cases. I expect my husband to respect me. I don't tell him what to do or who to be friends with. I cannot control his actions. I can control my own.

If I feel that he was being untruthful or holding feelings still for this woman or that they were more than friends, I would simply tell him it wasn't ok with you. If he chose to see her anyway, I'd walk. However if you have no reason to mistrust him, and they are truly just friends, than you should work on your own insecurities a bit.
