abnormal pap/HPV

I just got a call from PP saying that I had an abnormal pap. They told me it is probably HPV, but Im not surewhat kind. I was a little distracted with the news. Would they know/tell you what kind of HPV you have as soon as the test came back abnormal or do you need to go in again to know what kind you have?

I want to know because I dont want to risk having the kind that causes warts and spreading the virus. But if it is the cancer causing type thenI would just need to wait it out.

Anyone else have experience with this?
