Is this sentencing correct in your opinion?

I was watching "police interceptors" my favourite show. This is a British based show. 
There was a gentleman who was in possession of marijuana and a class A drug (unsure of which one). If you already have a caution for marijuana you can be jailed. The jail sentence for marijuana was up to 2 years in prison, for a class A drug the jail sentence would be up to 5 years. 
((This information was factual for 2016))
Do you think this sentencing is fair? 
Obviously this is just a discussion on 2 years for marijuana and 5 for an A class drug. 
I believe we shouldn't even be cautioned for personal use of marijuana but that is not the discussion! I don't believe the sentencings are fair, to only receive 3 more years for a class A drug whether that be personal or distributing.

That's a light sentence considering, if it was a amount that makes you considered a dealer. 
But I don't think it's fair. The mandatory minimums should be much lower (nonexistent actually) for possession

I don't really think that there should be any kind of sentencing unless they're repeat offenders. (About the class A drug, I think that pot should be legal). I think that if it's the first few times they get cause then they should be fined and jailed after the third time

It's a maximum of 7 years for possessing Class A drugs, and a maximum of 2 years for a Class C drug. So the person got off lighter if it's only a 5 year sentence for Class A. 
Distribution is a completely different story. Distribution and supplying Class A drugs can lead to a life sentence. However, supplying a Class C drug is a maximum of 14 years.

2 years for Marijuana is ridiculous in my opinion lol. Putting people in possession of a harmless plant in the same place as rapists and killers is unwordly.
