How do you know the size?

Question

I've been seeing a lot of people posting how big their baby is right now. My doctor has not offered any kind of scan or suggestion as to how big the baby is. I was getting vaginal ultrasounds every 2 weeks from 16-24 weeks that told me size but after that nothing. Also, I haven't had any internal exam since I first found out I was pregnant. Is that normal? I'm 34+5 right now.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've had two US's and the last one was at 20 weeks for gender. I haven't had an internal examination yet either. My doc measures my stomach every appt though and I'm messing 36 weeks at 34 week appt. I will get my first cervix check at 36 weeks though.

It's normal to not know. My ob has only done a dating scan and the anatomy scan. But we've had a few elective scans done. It makes my husband feel better, he says she's not in his belly and he needs to check up on her, so we get one every so often. Lol

I'm told my baby's weight every month because I get ultrasound every month. I'm high risk and have a cerclage. 
With my first I didn't have complications so I had 1 ultrasound the entire pregnancy and was never told the weight. ( 8lbs 12 oz)
Hopefully they let you know before you go into labor. IMO i think it would be necessary just in case the baby is large.

i haven't had an US since I was like 26 weeks or so. so i feel your pain! i've been measuring two weeks behind for a few weeks so i would LOVE to get an US to see how baby girl is growing. i'm hoping they will get to do an US at my 36 week appt so we can see how big she is and what position. fingers crossed!

Normal. I only know bc I have an ultrasound at every appointment, and even then, those are only estimates. It was pretty off with my first baby.

I wasn't told how big my baby was ethier til I asked my doc that is gonna perform my csection n he looked at my ultrasounds and then told me the estimate of how big my baby will be at birth

My doctor does three ultrasounds. A dating us around 11 weeks. Then anatomy scan around 20 weeks. And she likes to have one at 36 weeks to see the size of the baby. I'll have that last one the end of this month. Can't wait. I'd ask your doctor if you can get an us done and see what they say.

My doctor does a u/s every 4 weeks. He began estimating weight at 24-28-32, and I'll have another at 36. BUT I'm having twins so they want to monitor growth more frequently. I wouldn't be surprised if they only estimated weight for a singleton once or twice. They've checked my cervix once, I think at 26 or 28 weeks, but since I wasn't at risk for dilating they don't see any reason to check it again. But again, if yours is a singleton pregnancy they might not find it necessary unless you have complications.
