Is the president above the law?

There's a heavily debated theory that if the president does it, it's not illegal (lookin at you tricky Dick!). Is the president above the law? If he admits to obstruction of justice, should he be charged? Should a president be held to the same ethics standards as any other elected official?

The president should be held to the same level as any other American citizen. If he breaks the law then he should be charged. I don't get why anyone would ever think otherwise

Presidents make bills and laws and such... so why shouldn't they be upheld to those laws/bills they make (or the presidents before them). If you feel it's such an issue that it needs a law, you sure as hell better be following it.

The president must follow the laws himself. He must set an example. He works for the people. This is not hierarchy.

The president  and other government officials should really be held to a higher standard than anyone else in the country (IMO)
But I'll take the same standard if given an ultimatum. Unfortunately I don't think that's how it works. I think they get more passes and slaps on the wrist than deserved

It's The Rule of Law; that all citizens and government officials are bound by law.
