Nuva ring question

I just started nuva ring today. My periods are super irregular and I was tired of waiting for my period to start (Im on day 42 of my cycle) -no Im not pregnant, I took a test yesterday-

I know I'm supposed to wait 7 days before I am fully protected

But I wondered if it is still effective if I get my period early (aka before I am supposed to take the ring out)?

I've looked on the nuva ring website and other gyno/ birth control info/ pregnancy resource websites but I can't find a solid answer- which is annoying.

Also annoying- when I picked up the prescription there was no information paper that had insertion/use instructions or info or anything. So I got my info from the nuvaring site and also the American pregnancy association.
