Where to raise a family

Question

I'm from San Diego CA and looking to relocate next year to a new state, something affordable, with good schools and a safe place to raise a family. Where do you ladies live and do you like it ??

might sound crazy...but Fargo, ND, has one of the best economies in the country, is safe and affordable to live, and has great schools. And we DO have seasons besides winter, no matter what anyone tells you. It's a high of 90 today!! lol

we live in ky. my dad and I were having the conversation that MANY of our new neighbors have relocated from CA. we love it here,  if you can get over the bipolar weather. I bought my house (2 bed 1 bath) on 2 acres for 30,000. I'm a teacher and we have one of the best teacher preparation programs in the country and student gain is rising yearly. you can live city or country life here which is also nice.

Why do you need to move out of state? Just curious. I know San Diego is expensive, but I live in the foothills of Northern California (between Sacramento and Tahoe) and it is beautiful and affordable. And just a quick plane ride or long drive to family. 
I lived in Hawaii for a while, but it's really expensive. If I left California again, I'd do Oregon, Arizona (Prescott), or South Carolina. Someplace that has no extreme weather temperatures, no tornados or hurricanes, and not too expensive.

I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan! I would highly suggest it! It's rapidly growing, you get all 4 seasons, you are surrounded by sooooo much fresh water (and won't get eaten by sharks), there's soooo much craft beer, and you get a great country feel but in a beautiful city! Our school systems are amazing too! It's not cheap, but it's also not expensive...

We love San Diego! Have some friends from Coronado that we visit every so often, so beautiful there. If you like snow we lived on eastern Long Island and recently moved to CT, not outrageously expensive. CT has some great schools and quaint little towns. I absolutely love where we are in Fairfield and plan on staying here with LO and sending her to school here. Down south though you really can get a great bang for your buck! And warmer weather. I wouldn't move to the Midwest, their winters can be so brutal ❄️
