boyfriend telling you what to wear?

what do you think about your boyfriend and/or girlfriend telling you what you should and should not wear? I told him that i should he able to wear whatever i wanted and it shouldn't be a problem but he totally disagrees and that he wouldn't want to see me in anything that he didn't like.

My husband will tell me if he thinks something is unflattering, but usually only if I ask for his opinion. His feeling (and mine as well) is that I'm a grown woman and I can dress how I please. If I know it's something he really doesn't care for I generally won't wear it, but my husband would never presume to tell me that I CAN'T wear something.

My husband (back when we were dating and I was remotely attractive 😂) did not care about what I wore. And honestly it was none of his concern what I chose to be comfortable in for said days. He knew if men stared or it caught attention, that it was not MY fault, but the pervy guy's, and knew not to place that on me. Of course a couple years back, excessively showing skin wasn't that big of a trend like it is now, so most outfits weren't too wild. But I did have a friend who's boyfriend didn't even let her wear regular-ass shorts or tank tops because he said they are "for dirty whores and sluts". 🙃 So she never wore shorts and tank tops for 2 years. In Florida. Seriously??? He ended up abusing her mentally and physically and she left him.

Depends on the situation. Like if we were going to an upscale place and he wanted to wear joggers and a tshirt I'd say, no go change into something appropriate for the evening. Same goes for the other way round. If he said he liked me in dresses I'd wear a dress every now and again, same goes for the other way round, I'd like it if he wore something I liked for me every now and again. But actually dictating what you can and can't wear is controlling and disrespectful.

I would not be in a relationship with someone who thinks they can tell me what to wear. If my boyfriend thinks he can do that and tries it, it'll be a sad say for him. I think saying "you should wear this because you look cute in it" is fine. Saying "you shouldn't wear that because you look slutty" is gross and I don't want to be with people who think like that.

Well you have to be respectful of the things you do wear. If your boyfriend doesn't like you wearing super short shorts where your butt is hanging out or a shirt that is super low cut or any thing see through then it's understandable. Guys don't want their girlfriends running around looking trashy. My boyfriend tells me what he does and doesn't like me to wear. I wear tanks or camis under see through shirts, and don't wear super short shorts. He isn't a big fan of leggings but he doesn't get mad when I wear them. You have to consider how he feels and be mindful of it.

My ex wanted me to dress revealing to show off 😂 and my other ex was perfectly okay with sweats and slippers everywhere. But never did they tell me what to wear. It's okay to suggest or say an opinion, but at the end of the day it's your body
