When to worry?

I've been on different forms of birth control since at least 2014 and my last depo shot was September 2016 and I got my first period yesterday that didn't have to do with vitex I stopped taking vitex because I wasn't ovulating and it's horrendous I left my house for an hour and went through a tampon and a pad and my pants now I'm blessed because I was worried my period would never come I even had my thyroid checked but how much blood is too much blood? I'm not sure what's normal for me being on birth control for so long
