In law rant

Marina

So I have 3 kids with my 4th on the way. I work with infants everyday which their ages range from 6 weeks to 18 months. The ratio at work is 4 infants to 1 adult. I have my CDA in infants and toddlers which covers infants from birth all the way to 36 months. I have a BIL and his new wife have a 9 month old together. We are on vacation in Europe where all of DHs family and mine is. Mind you when our children were small we were never quiet in the house while they slept and we never shooshed anyone while they were sleeping if they had come over. We have been on vacation for about 2 weeks now and every time my niece is sleeping everyone is shooshing us to keep quiet because she is sleeping. And they're telling the children not to yell because she is sleeping. Mind you we are in farm country where there are loud tractors and combines that go up and down the street all day long. I'm surprised they're not telling those people to tone it down because their baby is sleeping. My BIL yelled at my kids today to be quiet because his baby is sleeping. So I picked up my kids and left. I told my DH I'm going home. He knew why I was going home and he knows that I'm fed up with the be quiet the baby is sleeping. He is too. We've told them multiple times what are they gonna do when they have more kids??? Are they gonna shoosh them to say the baby is sleeping??? They keep telling us that we don't know what we are talking about. We don't understand! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? HELLO?!?!?!? WE HAVE 3 kids and one more one the way and we don't know what we are talking about... as an infant teacher I know that it takes a couple of days for babies to get used to the noise while they are sleeping but after that they sleep very soundly and for hours at a time. I and my colleagues recommend to parents to go onto YouTube and find baby crying videos and almost all of our parents come back and day wow, they really do sleep through anything! That was my rant! Thanks for listening
