I look bad with makeup

I've been to three professional makeup artists and only once I looked decent :( That was a long time ago though and I think my face has changed since. I'm beginning to think I'm just ugly and I can't even benefit from makeup...I look weird if I draw in my brows, and eyeliner makes me look scary. I have stupid double eyelids that disappear into a single hooded as soon as I look up.

Any tips? I'm thinking about stopping by a MAC counter for tips but not too hopeful.
