Group B Strep - UK vs. America

In the U.K. GBS isn't routinely tested for. My hospital offered it to me and explained that they are one of the few in the U.K. that offer the test, since they are private, whereas the NHS cannot afford to test + treat women for GBS.
America apparently routinely checks for GBS and offers a lot more information.
What other countries don't routinely offer it? Where are you from and was it offered?
Everyone in the U.K.- should it be offered on the NHS? Or is it too much financial strain?
