ER Visit

Anyone ever been diagnosed with menorrhagia and if so know how to stop the heavy clotting? Long story short: I had my period last month and it lasted for about a week which was normal. It stopped a few days and picked back up. For two weeks I had extreme bleeding changing pads every 30 minutes. I was literally gushing blood/clots. I panicked and went to the ER which is when they diagnosed me with menorrhagia. They gave me some pills to stop the bleeding and it did, but I just started my period again yesterday and I'm going through the same symptoms. What are some of your experiences with this?
