Burning calories at work
I walk all day. I'm a patient transporter at a hospital and my hours vary, so I could be working an 8 or a 12hr shift. Most of the time I don't stop because we're always busy. I keep my phone in my back pocket to track steps because my Fitbit wasn't doing a good job since I'm not swinging my arms most of the day. I'm walking between 16-22,000 steps a day pushing 200-500 lbs at a time at different angles and all around just getting more of a quick workout on some patients (some patients are almost 400lbs not including the weight of the bed/stretcher). I know it's some kind of a workout because I start sweating and I can feel my heart rate go up significantly (that's normal for me). Now that you know the backstory, do you know/think it's possible to use this as a work out? My job definitely isn't easy and by the time my day is over I'm way too tired and weird muscles hurt too much to go to gym or even take another step sometimes. According to math I'm burning almost 2,000 calories a day but I haven't really lost any weight or seen any physical changes.
Any idea on how to help me lose some weight? Or reason as to why nothing is changing?
I'm 5'6, 164lbs, 22 years old in case anybody's trying to do calorie stuff lol
