Stop telling women that plan b is harmful.

Holly

Hey ladies I have seen multiple women tell girls that they shouldn't take plan be too many times because it can cause blood clots, stroke, and infertility. I'm just asking you guys right now to STOP. None of that is true and may prevent someone who NEEDS plan b from getting it out of fear and ends up with an unplanned pregnancy. Please do your research before spreading LIES and scaring women away from doing what they need to do. If it was dangerous it would not be bought as easy as Advil and candy is! . This is HORRIBLE sex education!!!!! I am posting on multiple threads.

"There aren't health risks to taking Plan B as much as you need," says Lauren Streicher, M.D., clinical associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern Univeristy's Feinbeg School of Medicine. Medically speaking, there isn't any danger, since it doesn't contain estrogen, the hormone that can potentially up your risk of blood clots, Streicher explains. Plan B contains only a progestin—a synthetic version of the naturally-occurring hormone progesterone found in some birth control pills—which is responsible strictly for preventing pregnancy.

"It's not necessarily bad to use as a regular form of birth control because it is simply a higher dose of a regular progestin-only birth control pill," gynecologist Diana Hoppe, M.D. confirms. And according to clinical management guidelines for OB/GYNs from the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), "oral emergency contraception may be used more than once, even within the same menstrual cycle." "All the rumors you hear about [the morning-after pill] are completely untrue," says Dr. Charlotte Wilken-Jensen, Head of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at Hvidovre Hospital in Denmark. "Every formula of the morning-after pill advises you to take it only once every cycle, but really, you can safely take it any time you have unprotected intercourse" (https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/article/53n73a/how-much-you-should-worry-about-taking-the-morning-after-pill-too-often)

"Actually, the morning-after pill is even safer and more tolerable than taking a ton of birth control because it only contains levonorgestrel, whereas most birth control pills also have estrogen. “In the past, women who needed emergency contraception would just take a super-high dose of birth control, but the estrogen just caused a lot of nausea and vomiting,” (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.buzzfeed.com/amphtml/carolinekee/heres-what-happens-if-you-take-the-morning-after-pill-all-th)

You hear that??? Plan b can be LESS dangerous than your regular birth control!!!! STOP 👏🏻 SPREADING 👏🏻 LIES.
