Did your partner go with you to your first Dr appointment?

I see some people who get to hear the heartbeat at their first ultrasound. Should I make sure my husband comes for my first Dr appointment at 7 weeks?

My partner comes to all my scans but not other appointments which I don't mind, I'd bring him if I thought they were highly important but if it's just blood work then I don't need him to come.

Each doctor does it differently, you might want to call and see if they're doing an ultrasound. I had one at my first two appointments (7 and 9 weeks) and we couldn't hear the heartbeat yet but we could see it beating on the screen!

I've had many appts. and he's come to the all. They didn't let us hear the heartbeat until I was a little over 11 weeks.

My husband had gone with me to every appointment from my 6 week to 2 weeks ago at my 22 week one. In my first appointment at 6 weeks they only tested my hormone levels to confirm pregnancy then just talked to me for a few minutes about how I'm feeling etc. U/S wasn't until my 10 week so even though he was happy to be there when the gave official doctor confirmation he wouldn't have missed anything if he hadn't been there. I would ask the doctors office what to expect in the first appointment to decide if it's something you want him for. One reason I was glad he was was that they asked medical history on both parents sides and he was able to answer some questions I didn't know (like did his grandpa die of old age or heart issues etc).

I would contact your Dr to see what they are doing a your first appointment. My first one was literally just to confirm pregnancy so I didn't make my hubby take off of work for that

My doctor's visits are usually under 10 min long (Canada, ultrasounds are in a different facility) she checks my urine for protein, checks the heartbeat, checks my belly and if i have no problems/complaints i get to go on my way. Hubby would have to miss work and we dont see the point. He is coming to my 2 ultrasounds, though.

Mine didnt come to my first because I just talked to a nurse about my medical history and did blood work . He came to every other appointment rhough

Mine has come to as many as he can. He's only missed one or two and will be missing one of my high risk ultrasounds next week due to work. Out first appointment we had a dating scan and then scheduled our first actual appointment where they would schedule for me to have blood taken and what not

My fiancé didn't come to my first prenatal he was at work, it was just talking about my birth plan and blood work And family history. He has came to every other appointment though, every ultrasound along with every check up!
