Pressure Mounted Gate

Hi guys, I wasn't sure where to post this but I feel like an idiot because I have no idea how to set up the baby gate I purchased. It doesn't come with instructions so the fact that I can't figure it out and neither can my husband or in-laws is worrisome lol. Its a pressure mounted gate with no hardware. I've tried everything and it just isn't locking into place or "mounting" to the wall. Attached photos below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
