Do you think BCP should be sold over the counter so teenagers that are sexually active but don't want to tell their parents can avoid unwanted pregnancies?

I do see where you're coming from and i definitely believe that teens need access to birth control. But everyone's bodies react differently to various forms of birth control. Some require different dosages for various reasons. So from a safety perspective I don't feel that they should be sold over the counter. A doctor should be involved in helping women choose a form of contraception that works for their body.

Idk about everyone else, but I had to have my BC adjusted when I started using it. I was 13 and having irregular periods. But it awhile for them to find the right one for me. I don't like the idea since BC can do so much to your body. I'm glad I got off.

The health clinic usually gives free birth control and condoms...... you can also go to the doctor and they separate you from your parents so you can answer questions honestly.

No because the pill contains hormones that some people cannot take and it can be dangerous. It should be free via prescription.

Why would teenagers need to tell their parents they've gone to the doctors and got contraception? Isn't there such thing as doctor/patient confidentiality for teenagers to? In England there was a case (see gillick competence and Fraser guidelines) that determined whether children under 16 could consent to medical treatment without the need for parental consent or with the parents knowledge.
