Do you think holiday marketing starting earlier each year takes away from the meaning of the "holiday spirit"

I bought a gift card the other day, and noticed at the bottom of the receipt it says "happy holidays" 
I thought DAMN already!?! It's barely mid July!? 
It seems like holiday marketing starts earlier and earlier every year. Sometimes I feel as if it's almost a kill joy to see the Christmas decor marketing and thanksgiving decor marketing out on display earlier each year.
Even channels on the tv are showing Christmas themed movies and series

I looove Christmas and I firmly believe that decor/music/movies etc. should not start until after Thanksgiving. I myself prefer to wait until the beginning of December.

I know hallmark channel had a "Christmas in July" Marathon. I've seen stores/ads with "Christmas in July" sales/specials

I haven't noticed, but in some places Christmas in July is a thing :D just because it's the halfway mark to Christmas. I do know Autumn decor is out. I wouldn't say Halloween decor, just Autumn decor. I think it gives people a head start for decorating. I prefer to wait until the after season clearance sales :D Stock up for the next year.

retail is a cruel bitch, once you work for a store for an entire calendar year ALL holidays are ruined because of marketing. have you been in stores lately? its mid July & all the back to school stuff is out. once back to school is over (beginning of September) the Halloween stuff will slowly start appearing in stores. After that its straight to Christmas decor. Then once New Year comes & goes Valentines Day merch starts making its debut. Basically, the stores prep for the holiday almost 2 months ahead in order to make the most money as possible. Didnt you notice all the summer stuff came out in shelfs way back in April? Retail ruins everything, I swear.

Wow maybe they made a mistake??  I think when it's July yep that's way to early.  Christmas is my favourite thing and starts early November in my house I neeeeed it for more then a month! but I definitely don't need it in summer that's going to far.  Also the Canadian thanksgiving is in October so no need to wait in my eyes (which I'm thankful for!) 😊

I actually like to Christmas shop in the summer. It's before all the popular toys are marked up hundreds of dollars and sales are easier to find and often times better. The first weekend in august me and two of my sisters (both have kids, I'm single and not a parent but dang i love shopping) go to toys are us Walmart etc. I'm usually completely done my Christmas shopping by early October.

In Michael's they have Christmas stuff out in September. I definitely think it takes away from the holiday spirit. Like how Starbucks puts out their pumpkin spice lattes at the end of August/beginning of September. There is a pumpkin flavored beer that is made around here that is super popular and they put it out around that time too. It's delicious, but it's way too soon. It should come out in October, not August.
