My ex lives in Texas

I just hung out with my ex girlfriend for the first time in 2 months since we broke up, it was weird, awkward and just sad realizing everything that we had for four years was gone. Although I was the one to end the relationship, I think she realizes now that it was for the best. (Very toxic and stressful) I really want us to be friends but I'm not sure if she feels the same now. Any of y'all gone through similar situations? I sure would love to hear some advice or anecdotes about your past relationships.
