fat cat help?

I know this isn't something usually on this app, but I'm sure someone on here has a cat and some input. I have three cats. I changed their food so they have the healthy indoor weight formula, and I monitor how much they eat. But one of my three is still really fat, and he gets more exercise than the other two, so I am confused. How do I help him lose some weight? I don't want to be one of those pet parents who lets the health of their animals become bad due to being overweight. Help? Please?

Have you taken the cat to the vet to rule out a medical reason for his weight?

If your cat eats from boredom then get a super low calorie food. If you cat just isn't getting full so it over eats then you can also get a higher meat content food. Its spendy but Acana/orijen is a good one.

Do you have dogs in the house as well? My cat was always measuring perfect until a couple years ago she gained weight very rapidly and we were all super confused until we found out she was sneaking the dogs food and the amount of protein in it caused her to gain so much. 🤦🏽‍♀️ finally have her weight under control but it took a long time

My sister is a vet. She suggests either talking to your vet about a prescription weight loss food, or to calculate the amount of calories the cat requires to see if your food and amount of food is appropriate to help the cat cut weight. Are you providing a measured amount daily and ensuring the cat is not getting the others cats' food?  Could consider low carb diet. There is a list online available of all the wet food and the carb amount. Fewer than 8 carbs per serving is low carb. Could also consider feeding only through toys like treat balls that require work for the cat to get food.  Hope that helps.  I have one cat that is diabetic and one that is not.  They are both on low carb wet food and lost a lot of weight and are overall much healthier but it required us watching them closely to make sure they each ate only their portion and to stop the treats. have you had a vet check him out? he might have a thyroid problem or something that is causing him to retain weight
