Birth control

So I finally decided to go to the hospital about my bellybutton pain that I've been having since a little while after me being on birth control, I haven't been on birth control within two maybe three years now and I still have the problem... The doctor is trying to tell me that the shot/or birth control doesn't have anything to do with my belly button pain but they can't give me an answer on why it's hurting. What do you guys think. Has anybody else had this problem or any other problem?
