Help Breastfeeding Twins

Kristin

Had my twin girls at 33w3d last Saturday. They are doing very well and we are just working on introducing oral feeds (they are still at the hospital for this reason, otherwise totally healthy and breathing well/good weights, etc).

I became rather ill two days after their birth with a liver issue. Was taken to a hospital out of town and separated from them. I tried to keep up with my pumping while gone but have really only been able to be on a consistent schedule since Thursday this week.

My milk has come in but I'm only getting 30-50ml from both breasts combined each pumping session. This is only enough to barely feed one and they are therefore getting a mix of breastmilk and formula. I've spoke to a lactation consultant and I am going to start trying to pump 10x a day if possible. Doctor wants me to try and still get 3-4'hour sleep stretches at night so I don't make myself ill again and I also try to pump around the times I'm allowed to hold them at the hospital.

So my question is, are there any other tricks you multiple (or singleton) mommies who have had milk production struggles to get your supply going? I know fed is best and will supplement if needed but I'd really like to be able to give them just breastmilk.

Any advice greatly appreciated! As a bonus for the help here's a picture of Tessa being hangry and pissed she had to share space with her sister again haha ;)
