I always ask first if my friend wants a Debbie downer or a supportive Sally. I let them pick if they want me to be the devils advocate or a shoulder to cry on. That way they get what they want/need and I'm not the bad guy.

I wish I would've done this with my old friends, to a certain extent. Lost them all because I decided to be the one who would try to open their eyes. In the end I was right, but I was the bitch who hated them and their relationship. So they left me behind. Although one of them was actually being abused.. but ultimately, it's her decision to make whether to stay or leave.

Of course. I'm gonna support my friend and take her to a movie and buy her a slurpee and then we can go to the zoo or the science museum or the rose garden or something friend dates are the best!
I'm still gonna be exasperated with her if she stays with a bummy ass guy, but I'm not gonna not be a good friend just because she's a bit annoying. One day I'm gonna be a dumbass over a guy and need a shoulder then too.
