Are you "ready"?

After reading the comments on the adoption (gofundme) post I wanted to post this and ask, are you "ready"?

Sources, Guardian and Parenting.com (sorry if that isn't very credible, I cannot find anything US as they keep making me go to UK sites 😩)

Below is the average annual cost of a child in their first year and so on.

UK:

US:

Considering those who thought asking for help for £40k upfront meant they aren't ready for a child, I want to ask you:

••If you are TTC or pregnant, do you have (rounded up) £13,000/$13,000 in your bank account right now?••

•• If you don't, do you still feel "ready"?••

The responses did kind of amaze me, as you can tell I favoured the funding page as £40k is a lot and upfront. But essentially if you believe the parents who need help with that funding aren't ready surely if you don't have this sort of money saved up are you ready?

Adoption is a long process for some, in which time, both parents will still be working and earning money. I just want people to see the other side of this debate.

****Also, I'm very much done with arguments so if an argument occurs that isn't friendly or isn't a debate I will sadly remove this post****

EDIT: meant to say this is for conceiving naturally, not ivf or adoption.

EDIT 2: (sorry I'm half asleep today) this DOES NOT include medical bills as I am aware there are medical costs associated with being in America.
