Would you raise your kids with same morals as the Amish/Mennonites?

I'm not sure if this would be the right group, but if it isn't just tell me and I will put it somewhere else. To answer the question though, I wouldn't personally. That's why I left the Amish. I am just asking about others.

No, I like some of the simplicity of Amish life (at least from how it looks on the outside), but their values are not my values. 
I don't think I've ever met anyone ex-Amish before. Can I ask how the adjustment process was for you?

No, as crazy as this world is, I appreciate the good and the bad of our modern world. 
   
I love the information I can find, medical advances, education, etc. I want my children to be successful in their world with open minds and not have the burden of rejecting ideas because a religion dictates that. Very oppressive religious views aren't my cup of tea.

Nope. I'm in northeast Ohio and there are Amish populations just 60 miles outside of Cleveland. I have a friend who lives out in Amish country and all I can say for sure that I know about the Amish, I don't like. 
They have a great work ethic. Beyond that, I don't agree with their values. I don't believe you should disown your children if they choose to leave your community and religion. That's it a value to me. That's a lack of values. I don't agree with the way they treat animals. I don't believe in that degree of self segregation. I don't believe in the lack of education in their community. 
I often compare them to Orthodox Jews, who I have more familiarity with and have friends and family who are orthodox. I don't agree with the extreme sects of Orthodox Judaism either. Very similar in all the wrong ways.

To me the Amish way of life has been highly romanticized. (I admit to being a Beverly Lewis fan) But I wouldn't choose that lifestyle for myself or my children. 
My faith is based on the Bible and not on tradition. And from what I know about the Amish, tradition is a major part of everything. 
I do have a few Amish acquaintances and for the most part they seem satisfied with their life. I also know an Amish girl who left and really had a hard time with her family and how they treated her for leaving. Her little sister, brother and Dad got in a buggy accident and she went to the hospital to see them and most of her family wouldn't speak to her. She hadn't been baptized into the Amish so they could have talked to her from what I understand.

No. My beliefs don't align with theirs so I feel no need to raise my kids that way. It's a totally different way of life and not applicable to us in any way.

As far as living a simple life and not putting an emphasis on happiness through material things, yes. Also being able to grow and raise your own food, sure. I love their simple clothing too. I am raising my daughter through Waldorf education which I guess has some parallels as far as simplicity, lack of technology, emphasis on handiwork and respect and love of nature.

I feel like my beliefs don't match up with theirs in many levels. I'm not completely sure of their views of everything but I have a feeling they wouldn't like me as I'm an outgoing Jewish pro-choice lesbian med student. I do like some of the simpler parts to it but I wouldn't do that to my children.

Nope definitely a NO from me! Sure they have great work ethic, the cooking is out of this world but I don't believe in there beliefs and way of life. And the whole shunning part and being disowned I definitely don't agree on.

I'm from Iowa and there is an Amish community near Iowa city in the Amana colonies and the in the town of Kalona   It's crazy driving down the highway and seeing horse and buggies going the highway and horses being tied up outside of grocery stores, banks etc and they have no electricity etc.
