My birth story!
My baby's due date was August 10th and he came 3 weeks early! On July 20th I was at work and stood up after eating lunch and felt a bit of a gush. Went to the bathroom and realized that my water had broken. Had my husband pick me up and headed to the hospital around 1pm. Dr said I could have peed myself lol so they were going to check and see. My water had broken and I was 1cm dilated. He had me walk around for 2 hours and checked me again. I was still 1cm. He sent me home and told me to return at midnight.
In the meantime I hadn't felt any pain or contractions so at midnight I figured I was still 1cm which I was. Since my water had broken over 12 hours ago they had to induce me due to risk of infection because my body was not beginning labour itself. By 1am I had an IV in and was getting oxytocin. Was able to rest a bit but hints were beginning to get painful around 6am. I was checked at 6:30 and was 4cm. By 7am I could not handle the pain and requested an epidural. Since the anesthesiologist was coming off a night shift they told me I was first in line for the one starting at 8am and would have to wait an hour. As painful as it was I muscled through it. When 8am finally came they told me an emergency c section was being done and I would have to wait another 40 mins for the anesthesiologist. They said I could have a dose of fentanyl to ease the pain until 8:40. As they were giving me the fentanyl I felt the urge to push and asked to be checked. I had gone from 4cm at 6:30 to 9 cm at 8am. No epidural for me!
By 8:30 I began pushing and he was born at 10:18 on July 21st!
