Ok, I have a genuine question... 
I'm getting my makeup done at a store nearby (100% Pure) for my baby shower in a few weeks. They do not charge for doing makeup, and they also don't expect you to buy any products like at other stores (MAC, Sephora, etc). 
Would you instead tip the makeup artist? Or would you just leave it? I'm notorious for overtipping people so I'm tempted to tip, but I've never had my makeup done and do not know what's expected here. TIA!

I always lean to tipping vs not. 
   
Some department stores forbid their makeup counter employees from accepting tips. Some stores allow tips. Some make-up artists work on commission or have daily sales goals, so your purchase is really the important part, and while a tip would be appreciated, it’s not necessarily expected. 
   
Maybe call the store and ask their policy, and what is typical?

I'd ask politely if they accept tips and then leave 15-25 dollars with them depending on the quality of the job, the time spent there, and the expense of the makeup used.

Definitely tip.. and tip according to how much you enjoyed the experience. Any service being performed should be tipped accordingly.

Congratulations! I use to get my makeup done at Bobbi Brown and then Mac for pageants when I was younger. They do not expect you to buy the products. Actually they ask you to bring your makeup so they can see colors you have to refresh your makeup later if needed. However, we usually bought lipstick or something that was new and looked good.... I'm pretty positive my mom tipped but I always thought she just paid a fee or something. Now I get my makeup done every now and then from my hair stylist and if I bring my makeup it's $10 and if she uses her makeup it's usually $20. A few times she tells me not to pay but I always pay her the regular amount it would be if I did have to pay. If you plan on using them again or coming back to their store frequently I would tip just so they give you good service for next time. But I wouldn't tip any more than $20 if they use all of their products. And no more than maybe $10 if you bring your products.

If they don't charge and they don't expect a purchase then I'm sure that there is an expectation that you tip. I would also say that there is an expectation that you do buy some stuff. Where I come from people don't tip ever. The expectation is that you either pay to go to a make up artist or if you go to a store or a counter you make a sizeable purchase.

Ooooooo this is where things get tricky. I used to work for Benefit inside of Ulta. The Lancôme botique girls couldn't charge, couldn't do full face, etc. because they aren't licensed, and Ulta is technically a salon, so it would be illegal. They color matched and showed off products. Therefore, couldn't take tips. I (for Benefit/Ulta) couldn't charge cosmetics because it wasn't on the Benefit list (waxing services are, though). For SOME REASON people thought I got all of that $25 brow service, so people wouldn't tip me until they learned I'm just a Benefit/Ulta employee and I got $13 an hour plus tips (new store, people were unfamiliar with it). The hair stylists in the salon offered full face applications, and lessons (through Ulta, again). If you hired a pro-MUA, and they used clean items and DISPOSABLE implements/tools, tip them. If you go to a counter and pay full face, same thing applies. If you go to a store, and it technically isn't a service, but you're happy with your results and you're feeling generous because someone did something for you, it can't hurt to help someone with food or gas for the day 🤷🏼‍♀️. I'm an over-tipper, too. If anyone does anything for me, service wise, I try to tip them cause I know the chain is ultimately the one getting most of that service charge.

I would definately  Tip, even if there was a minimum  of  purchase amount.... especially  since their  "work" doesnt get paid for.  I'd  say  15-30 $  would  be good for a full face of make up.

I would, personally. I tend to over tip as well. It doesn't hurt to offer a tip. If the MUA can't accept tips, then they will just decline.
