Dry Skin; HELP?

Question

I have NO make-up experience, and I know NOTHING about any type of make-up! I only wear a powder foundation, and a little lipstick; I also style my brows a little bit and curl my lashes. Anyway, no matter what type of foundation I use, (powder or liquid), I have really dry, flaky patches on my forehead, nose, and right on top of my eyebrows. I do use a pretty expensive powder foundation from QVC and overall, I think it looks good.. aside from the dry patches. Any advice on how to fix this would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Moisturizer moisturizer moisturize. Put some moisturizing lotion on before you start your makeup, then find a primer. Use foundation with words like dewy, creamy, radiant and glow on it. 
Drugstore foundation rec: Maybelline Fit Me Dewey + Smooth, L'Oréal Luminous foundation, L'Oréal infallible pro glow foundation 
High end: Nars all day luminous foundation, NARS sheer glow, MAC studio fix
Depending on your shade it may be a bit hard to find certain foundations (if you're of a darker complexion, like me) but do some more research and you'll find what you need. 
Also drink lots of water and set up a strict skin care routine.

I use NYX honey dew me up as my primer. Then I mix pixi (target brand) flawless & poreless with my foundation. I always had a problem with my cheeks being very dry and patchy with makeup no matter what I did. This really helped me out.

Use moisture, it sounds like you have dry skin so get face products for dry skin, for foundation and primer use more dewy based things

I use to have the same problem, I used the Nivea's exfoliating face wash for the flakes and Nivea's moisturiser, it helped my skin loads.

I struggled with pretty much the same problem with my foundation. Even just moisturizing isn't enough for me, the game changer for me is my face wash. The face wash I use is what really made the difference. But do keep in mind moisturizing is also extremely important! I use an oil wash, but I do want to warn you, don't do the "oil cleansing method" it's full of bs and just terrible for people with dry skin. All you want to do is apply an oil cleanser to your dry face and wash off. Don't heat up a towel with hot water and steam your face, that's only going to make your dry skin worse. I'll put a link to show you which cleaner I use, it's amazing, it doesn't leave your face feeling oily at all, and it's all natural, no sulfates or other bad chemicals. With cleansers, the number one ingredient you should look out for is anything with "sulfate." exfliote i like philosophy's microdelievery cleaner and you might like it cosmetics confidence in a cream as a moisturizer it's pretty heavy duty! also drink lots of water
