3 days ago I went L&D; for preterm labor they gave me a terbutaline shot so the contractions stopped and they sent me home and said call your doctor in the AM. In the morning call my doctor and get an appt right away due to contractions starting again. I get prescribed Procardia 2x a day 3x if needed. So I take my first dose and my legs swell up like giant red balloons! 🎈 seriously 2x their size in a matter of minutes! I hadn't even left pharmacy yet and showed pharmacist and he looked in shock and said call your doctor immediately! Call my doctor and they said elevate and if they don't go down come in. They went down and I took my second dose that night before bed with no problems. Yesterday morning I take my 9 AM dose and feel tired (normal on Procardia) but nothing serious. 3:00 PM comes and I am having more contractions so I take another dose. I couldn't get off the couch, I was drifting in and out of conscience, slurring my words... I am by myself with my almost 2 year old daughter (so scary and she is okay Thank God!) I don't remember but I luckily called my dad, mom, and husband slurring and I guess repeatedly said "help me" until my dad broke into my house and drove me to L&D.; At L&D; I couldn't remember ANYTHING! I forgot I was married, my daughters birthday, where I was... I kept going in and out of conscience. Come to find I am anemic, my blood pressure is super low, and since I wasn't able to get up to eat my protein levels are borderline panic mode. So NO MORE PROCARDIA! They kept me until it was out of my system and then monitored my contractions but can't stop them. I have a closed cervix and was given steroid shot for baby's lungs.
