New to breastfeeding

I know the first few days are the hardest. My breasts hurt so bad and are so heavy it's unbearable. I'm dreading feeding her because of the pain. My nipples are cracked and peeling they stick to my shirt or bra and then I have to pull it off. How long does this really last. Lanolin doesn't help. Is it really bad to pump and bottle feed as long as she's getting breast milk since I'm going to have to do that in a couple weeks when I go back to work? I love the bonding time but i didn't expect so much pain. Help!!
