Implant nexplanon

Next month I will have my nexplanon for 3 years so I'll have to take it out. I've gained 20 pounds on it. Also, my periods are so off it drives me crazy! I'll bleed for two months, then not bleed for a few weeks. Then I'll bleed for a week and not bleed for a month. Is it just me or has this happened to any one else? I've been on birth control 12 years of my life(other then when I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago). But I think when I get this taken out I'm going to keep it out for a few months so my body can regulate.
