How to minimize rapes?

Hi everyone, I have been reading alot about girls who have been victims of rape and physical abuse. I think they are more cases than i had even imagined. I never thought so many poor girls were raped everyday. I feel extremely sad for all of them but i was thinking that why is it so common and what all can be done for the future children by parents to minimize It? No one is forced but whoever wants to willingly contribute and share their stories and give suggestions to the future mommas to keep their babies safe will be highly appreciated? All my good wishes and love for all of you ❤

Unfortunately, you can only do so much to protect them. I know, it's sounds horrible and makes you feel helpless, but the only way to make 100% sure it doesn't happen is to keep them in your sight 24/7 for their entire life. If you feel something is off with your child, trust your instincts. Ask questions. And keep in mind this is something you should do even when they are older, high school and college age as well. 
I was raped my junior year of college during a string of 6 sexual assaults on campus. It was during the day, in a parking garage. No one saw anything. There were no cameras. Once I gathered myself afterwards, I called my fiancé. He met me at the hospital. After the exam and questioning from police, we went home. I was terrified to tell my parents and thought they would be disappointed in me for "allowing" this to happen. He told them and they we there the next day. They supported me through all of it. And when the DNA linked the same man, and he was caught, and most of us identified him, they supported me through the trial. 
I hate, HATE, to say it, but sometimes you can do everything right as a parent and a woman and it can still happen. All you can do is stay involved, ask questions, know your children and know when something feels off and their behavior changes, something happened. And just pray that it's never rape.

I have a master's degree in psychology and domestic violence and sexual assault were my specialty. It's a very long and complicated answer that could take me over an hour to really explain, but the very short answer is that significant  social change needs to happen for rape to no longer exist....gender and sexual stereotypes, accepted culture violence against women etc. Rape needs to be understood as a violent crime, not about uncontrollable sexual desires. Teaching respect and equality, not allowing sexist jokes etc is a good place to start. As far as victimization, most sexual assault  (about 85%) occurs by someone the victim knows (date, friend etc). This in NO WAY blames the victim, but research, and what I've seen in treating assault victims, that there are a few things perpetrators do look for when fishing for a victim. They sometimes try to do little things to push your boundaries and see how you respond, testing the waters before 'going for the kill' so to speak. Those recognize minor boundary violation and who respond early to boundary violation are more likely to have someone they know who is secretly a perpetrator move on to someone else.  So teaching our children assertiveness, strong communication and clear early boundary setting can help. Of course this isn't 100%, as the only way to truly prevent assault is to stop perpetrators, but it can help reduce chances a bit. Finally, I also think a lot of improvement in the legal system would help. Rapist tend to get very short sentences, and the legal process  (rape kit, etc)is horrendous. How people in general respond is also terrible, the victim being called a liar, or stupid for her decisions leading up to the assault (eg why did you wear that?why did you allow this guy to come to your apartment to study instead of the library?) Crap like that.  But yes unfortunately sexual assault is far too common and victims are often silent out of fear of reprocussions or being blamed, or even blaming themselves.

You can't. As a victim of rape. It was by someone I trusted. The statistic for the US is about 1/4. The military in the US is 1/3. Other countries vary. It's an epidemic and when people say we don't need feminism this is why we do.
