Vitamin D drops?

Question

My daughter is 10 days old and EBF, the pedi recommended her starting vitamin D drops but I'm skeptical about giving her anything extra. Does anyone have any insight? I've read the side effects for getting too much vitamin D and do not want to subject her to those side effects if it's unneeded.

I didn't give it to my child while breastfeeding. We went on daily walks and I was also taking vitamin D. So she got what she needed. It's been proven that drs try to overfeed use with vitamin D. Too much of anything will hurt you.

It's not really extra as most breastmilk does no contain an adequate amount of vitamin D and babies also don't get much sunlight. Maybe start taking a vitamin D supplement for yourself if you're weary but I would definitely listen to your ped! I used it with both my boys and had no side effects.

You need to make sure they get the vit d to promote healthy bone and overall growth

Research has shown that 6000iu of vitamin D for mom per day produces enough vitamin d for baby via breastmilk. If you'd rather give drops that's fine, but I thought it was easier to just up my intake.

Vitamin D is absolutely critical to the human infant in order to maintain skeletal integrity. Recent research also tells us that vitamin D is key in the maintenance of our immune systems regulating both infection and inflammatory pathways.
If you choose to give it up her just watch the ingredients. Some of them put fillers in them. I had no idea until my naturopathic doctor looked up the brand I was using and I saw it had corn oil in it. No wonder she was miserable after I gave it to her. She's 2 1/2 now and I'm still pissed lol

Vitamin D drops are really important to give you little love and will help with so much! They sadly gave my daughter digestive trouble (she had a lot of issues when she was little) so we weren't able to give them to her very often but I highly recommend it. The concentrated ones are easier because it is just one drop

I think it depends on where you live, we live in Orlando Florida and I didn't give her as we walked out for twice a day and was out alot yo my mom's or the store. Orlando is very hot! I thought that was enough vit D for her.
