Am I a horrible dog mom?

Question

Am I the only one thinking this lady is way out of control? It's my niece that's only around maybe three times a year. It's not like they're riding my puppy around all day everyday. I know that he will not and would not hurt her. This lady is pissing me off. Is she right?

Nope I would never let a child sit on a dog. You don't know if it makes the dog uncomfortable, and you can never guarantee a dog's temperament or mood. There have definitely been cases of normally sweet dogs just doing a complete 180. If it were me I'd play it safe.

I'm sorry but I agree with the lady,  I get it if it were a small baby but the little girl looks heavy enough for the dog to feel uncomfortable but not do anything out of respect and loyalty.

she's out of line. not her dog. my dog LOVES kids and any attention she gets from kids. even if its them sitting on or riding her. everything is circumstantial.

I think she's reaching. To some degree I can see where she's coming from, I've seen dogs obviously trying to get away and kids literally covering them as they're trying to leave and the parents say nothing, but this doesn't seem to be one of those times. Looks like the dog and the kid are enjoying each other's company. That lady needs to cool it.

She's out of line. No I don't think kids should sit on dogs. However the dog is clearly unbothered and enjoys the little girls company. If the dog is not showing signs of stress it's fine. 
Kids climb on each other all the time but no one bats an eye.. how is this any different?

Hahaha wow what a bitch. I have a pitbull (yeah, I know so mean right) wrong! He's the sweetest dog in the world and I have a 3 year old niece who just adores him, she plays with him all the time and would NEVER hurt her. She even pulls his tail and his ears. Kids are kids, they're gonna do these things to dogs and it's good for dogs to learn to be tolerant like this!

Really depends on the dog, the dogs age & temperament. W/ that table be right behind your niece I would be more afraid she may fall back & bust her head on it. As far as the dog goes he/she will let you know if it's uncomfortable or hurting in any way. If your dog is in great condition, good breeding & no hip/spine issues he/she should be fine but b/c kids go fast your niece needs to understand that she can't continue sitting on the dog like that b/c she's going to get to big. Some people think they know everything & love to put their 2 cents in.

Man I never saw anything wrong with it since she's such a toothpick and he always enjoyed it. I go above and beyond for my dogs and treat them as my kids. I would never do anything to put either my dogs or family in danger. I never thought such a sweet moment that both of them were enjoying would be such a big deal. Thank you everyone for your opinions I appreciate hearing both sides.

Out of line, yes. And seeing that the child isn't around terribly much, it should be fine. Good temperament and no consistent weight to damage developing hips/spinal area.
The woman should have gone about her opinion in a different way. Given information such as "hey, I just want to let you know that too much weight can damage the spine/hips! And be careful to watch if the pup gets irritated! Cute picture!" And then backed off.
It is a really adorable picture though :) so sweet!
But it should not have gone beyond that. I did find the woman to be quite rude with her comments and I'm sorry she was so rude. Outa line!

Um. She's ridiculous 🙄 I rode my dog like a horse when I was little and they both lived long, healthy lives.
