Would you downsize to be in a house instead of an apartment?

We live in California where rents are out of control, currently paying 1650 for a 2 2bd 2ba apartment. I just viewed a 2bd 1ba for 1900 that is smaller than our current rental, however it is a private single family residence. Is a yard and washer/dryer, garage etc worth losing living space inside the home? is privacy worth sacrificing space?

yes absolutely. and try to but if you can. renting is money down the drain. I know it's not possible for everyone!!!

I would be in a home, to rent a 2b 2bath is around 1100 (apartment)  or buy/mortgage for 1400- so we are in the smaller apartment saving for a home

Yes I would. We paid $1660 for a ONE bedroom apartment....... (2 adults and 2 kids!! We were in a hurry for a place...) anyways we moved now and pay $2600 for a 2 bedroom (with a loft which is basically a 3rd bedroom.) it's expensive here in California I know the struggle! Just keep in mind, with an apartment, the management takes care of everything if you have an issue. With a house it can be more of a pain in the ass getting things fixed by landlord (our is a pain in the ass...)
But if I had the option to stay in a house or get bigger apartment... I would def say house
