rock n play AND swing?

Hey mama's! First time mom here! In the beginning of my pregnancy, hubby and I bought baby an auto rock n play! We also recently got him a vibrating bouncer. I'm due in about 3 and a half weeks so I'm testing out all our gadgets and making sure we know how they all work. Now I'm starting to wonder if maybe we should invest in a swing as well? I've heard great things about the auto rock in play, but it only sways back and forth. Should I be looking for a swing that also sways side to side? Or should the rock n play be enough? Any advice and/or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! :)

I would if you're able to. Babies can be picky about what they like. My baby liked the rock n play most up until he was like 2.5 months old, he still likes it but now prefers the swing more (which ours sways front to back as well as side to side) mostly because he can see things around him better in the swing. We also had a little cradle rocker thing that came with our pack n play and it vibrates, he LOVED it but out grew it by 2 months. He doesn't really like his vibrating bouncer though, it just sits there taking up space 😛

Coming from someone whose living room has been taken over by baby gear, thanks to all of my friends and family members who have given me their hand-me-downs, I highly recommend waiting to buy a swing. It's true that some babies love them, but swings are so massive and they use them for such a short amount of time. I'm a clean freak and I HATE clutter, so the amount of big baby items in my house is driving me insane right now! I've even decided not to buy the highly talked about pack n play because it's just one more thing to take up space! I don't have a bouncer, either. If you find that your baby doesn't like the rock n play or the bouncer then you can always exchange one of them for a swing later. I'm not sure where you live, but Amazon has same-day shipping available on most items, or you could always send your husband down to buy buy baby to bring home a swing once the baby is there if you feel like you need one. The best option would be to go down to the store yourself (once you're feeling up to it) and actually put your baby in all of the swings to see which one he/she likes the most!

I got both, we only used a swing with my other two & they loved them, i got the rock & play this time because we have a multi level house

I would say wait until your baby comes then go to buy buy baby and try some out. We have the auto rock n play and my son isn't really into it. He's not a swing kid.
