Late period on the pill

So I started on the pill about a month ago. I am on my first pack. Today I started my sugar pills but no period came. (However I did kinda have a period about two weeks ago after starting the pill while I was taking the active pills. It was spotting/occasional heavier bleeding for about a week) but anyways I am sexually active but every time we have sex he uses a condom and pulls out. Is it normal for my period to be late when first starting on the pill?
