Is this "Normal?"

So I called my health insurance today and found out they don't cover "high risk" pregnancies! Is this normal?

That's BS. Maternity services have to be covered under the ACA. Now they may be able to charge you a higher percentage to see a specialist, but ... I'd call to speak to a customer rep bc that not legal and I'm guessing there's some misinformation floating around.

I have United and it is still covered, but not 100%. Maternal fetal medicine appointments and tests don't fall under prenatal care (or at least didn't for me) so I owed 20% on anything billed from those. It sucks because it's more than I expected out of pocket, but it will just bring me closer to my deductible in the end.

I would ask if they do not cover certain tests or the whole pregnancy.  They should NOT be able to deny you.
