Nicu babies?

Moms who delievered at 37 weeks, did your baby have to go to the nicu? Im being induced at 37 weeks and im afraid she will have to, although thats better than what could happen to her if she stays in me until 40 weeks so i wont complain if she does.

No, my daughter was 7.5lbs and healthy when she was born at 37 weeks. Only issue she had was that she was jaundiced and we had a bili-blanket to use at home for the first week.

My friend had a 37 weeker and he did need his breathing monitored in the nicu, but only for 2 or 3 days and she was still able to hold him, nurse him etc, he just needed to go to the nicu between nursing visits to make sure he didn't stop breathing. They still went home on time and he was perfectly fine.

Baby's at 37 weeks are full term. Girls are generally ok to deliver, boys don't develop their final hormones for their lungs until 38-39 weeks so sometimes the boys will have a harder time and need oxygen or a quick visit to the nicu. But this can be rare. Babies are safe to come at 37 weeks with very little intervention.

I had my twins at 37 weeks via a scheduled cesarean. My daughter weighed 6lbs 1oz and my son weighed 5lbs 5oz. No nicu time for either.

My Bub was born at 37 weeks and was in Nicu for a week only because he wasn't breathing on his own when he came out and then he developed some kind of infection. He was born at 8lbs too. I think each baby is different.

I haven't had any personal experience with this ... but I just had this conversation with my doctor because they are talking about taking my baby between 35-37 weeks.    She said there is very little chance the baby  would need to spend any time in the NICU if the delivery/c-section goes according to plan.

Even if she does, don't be worried about the NICU my daughter is in there right now and the staff are wonderful. They know what they are doing and are prepared for anything that could happen.

My baby was born at 35+5 and spent no time in the NICU. It really just depends on the baby. Some completely full term babies need NICU time. Good luck!
