ovulation woes

So I was on the pill since I was 16. Now about a year ago I felt like I wanted to see how I am with my own natural hormones so I went off it and have been using a combination of other methods to prevent pregnancy with my SO. Ok, so I have all of the normal period moodiness and such but what has really thrown me for a loop is that during ovulation time I'm like a different person! my mood swings are giving my SO whiplash. I think it's worse even than my period but maybe that's just because I expect it with my period so I'm more prepared but when I'm ovulating i will lash out and then be like, holy hell where did that come from and then I realize I'm ovulating and it's been really consistent the last couple of months that I turn into a huge jerk when I'm ovulating. Does anyone else have this issue? Is this a normal thing??
