Can you take stitches out yourself?

I had a tooth exposed over a week ago, I have 2 stitches. I was supposed to get them out a few days ago but the doctor is an hour away, and I no longer have a car. I have no family near here and can't take a bus. I was wondering if I can take them out myself? I've read that you can if you are careful. I'm scared of them becoming embedded into my gum

No. Find a way to get there. Not only should a trained professional take them out, but it's really wise to have them look at the wound when they remove the stitches & make sure it's properly healing.

I would try going to the er or urgent care. if you do it yourself and mess up that wouldn't be good.

Took stictches out myself from my hand. Which is different because you can see what youre doing as opposed to trying to do this on your mouth. Knowing myself i would probably just try and pull them out. And if too difficult would see if my husband would like to volunteer and if not go to the doctor
